My Husband Says I Smell Like Soup

And he is right. Tonight Shelley and I went to a cooking class at the high school (for adults). It was really cool! We were (quite obviously) the only first-timers. As we walked in late and lost, we noticed the other dozen people in the class had brought their own wine as well as Tupperware containers to take home food. Tonight's topic was soups and stews.

The chef was very nice and obviously very talented. He talked about where he shops (Meijer and Schnucks) and showed us the brands he considers best for various ingredients. He has his own bay tree leaf, bakes his own bread from scratch and grows all his own herbs and spices. We met some very nice ladies - we all chatted about ingredients and compared notes on the four recipes we were learning. Chef Bob goes pretty fast and doesn't always specify ingredient measurements, but he answered all the questions and made sure everyone got to see and smell the soups at various times in the cooking process.

Here's what he made:
Lobster Corn Chowder
Chicken Tortilla Soup
Tomato Bread Soup
Butternut Squash and Lentil Stew

After he finished each soup, we got to eat as much as we wanted with fresh bread and toppings (cheeses, cilantro, etc.) to boot. Too bad Shelley and I had dinner first. We rolled ourselves out of the room vowing to come back with empty stomachs and a bottle of wine.

Class would be fun with a big group of friends. Does anyone want to join us next time? The list of classes is here.

So now I have to go shower even though I'm going to the gym in the morning. APY says he can not sleep if my hair smells like onions.
