Girly Weekend

What a nice weekend we had. It was the first time I had my husband home for both Saturday and Sunday since August (except maybe around the holidays?). He usually works one or both of the weekend days, so for us to have a real weekend together is a real treat. APY got plenty of rest, and when he is well-rested, you better watch out, he is a cleaning machine! I know I take him for granted - who else depends solely on their husband for clean laundry?

So I know I'm no Elle Woods, but I have always been a girly girl. And with her penchant for Barbie and dress-up, AJ seems to be heading that way too. She and I had a great fluffy weekend full of girl stuff. Yesterday afternoon we took AJ ice skating for the second time this winter. She did awesome - even skated by herself for a minute with the help of a little walker. It absolutely wiped her out, she was beat and actually napped yesterday. The we watched women's gymnastics on the Big Ten Network after our candlelit family Valentine's dinner. We brought in Siam Terrace and cupcakes from Mirabelle, so no cooking was involved.

The girliness was put on hold this morning as AJ and I ventured out to Home Depot and Lowe's and APY did the grocery shopping - talk about flipping the standard roles! But AJ and I made up for it as we attended the Illini women's gymnastics meet where everyone wore pink to show support for cancer. I mean the fight against cancer. You know what I mean.. Anyway the whole place was in P-I-N-K, including us.

Top it all off with a box of Ruben's truffles from my Valentine and the weekend was complete. Oh, and don't forget the weepy chick flick we watched last night - Definitely, Maybe. APY went to the store to pick it out and we didn't think it would be a crying kind of movie....but it was. We are really going to have to do a little more research because the movies we keep getting are all terrible downers. APY doesn't seem to mind but it's getting kind of depressing. Three nights ago we watched Burn After Reading, featuring a cute, snappy Brad Pitt who ~~~~ SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT~~~~ dies halfway through. Now I didn't cry at that, but I can't say it was uplifting.

But the rest of the weekend, and especially the TRUFFLES, made up for the loss of Brad Pitt.
