Counting our blessings

APY and I have been bitching up a storm about our IBS lately. We're so pissed that we've spent a year battling this obnoxious and uncomfortable illness. Our initial concern has turned to annoyance and anger. I've been perusing message boards and spending money on new 'cures' which are unlikely to help. But we're trying to get some relief from the bloating and discomfort we experience almost every single day.

So let's switch gears for a second. This week I got a Facebook message from a girl I went to grade school and high school with. She was two years ahead of me, but we knew each other for many years and volunteered together at church. I haven't seen her in years and we were never close.

So I was thinking that we are exchanging a lot of messages for people who don't really know each other. I began to read her last message that started out, "My husband had a lot of health problems last year..." and I'm like well YES, so has mine, and my husband and I both look about 6 months pregnant every night and thank goodness for insurance. And she goes on to say,

"He had a blood clot in his leg that was misdiagnosed as siatic problems for 2 months. The end result was they had to amputate his leg so we've been pretty busy with doctor appointments and rehab. Other than that, things are good."

And the rest of her message is about how happy her daughters make her and how good her life is. What an upbeat attitude she has - absolutely amazing.

So I've decided to keep throwing my money away on homeopathic meds that don't work...but I'm going to lose the negative attitude. I look kind of fat, and I feel kind of blah, but I have both legs, my husband's pain level is improving, my child is healthy and happy and our life is good.

So I'm calling it here: Bitchfest is OVER.

I don't see as a bitcher at all! I don't know what is going on inside your head, but you always seem very positive to me. And I don't blame you for feeling frustrated with your health issues. Stay strong, sister sister!
