Follow-Up - Inaugural Parade

So I printed out a list of the parade order so I could look for Anne's husband. For some reason I was really excited about a.) seeing someone I know b.) seeing a group from our area c.) actually finding out what these people do with their brooms, mowers and toilet plungers.

It had just hit 5:00 and all the networks had switched over to local news. So I watched CNN. Wolf Blitzer said to some Dumbo on the floor...."And here come the Lawn Rangers from Arcola. What do you think of these guys, (Dumbo)?" And this reporter gives an assanine response that has nothing to do with the parade or the lawnmowers or anything else. She gives a canned response about Obama's policies that she has probably been memorizing for days. She worked so hard on storing political facts and figures in her little brain that she was unable to actually report on what she was seeing. I really wish he had asked Anderson instead.

I did not see much of the 'drill team' moves and I have the feeling they were not impressive. I am still not quite sure what the gimmick is with these guys, as the decorated lawn mowers are kind of hard to see on television. But Barack and Michelle totally lit up as the group 'marched' by, and they were laughing and waving and animatedly discussing the Lawn Rangers. So that was nice to see.

I haven't seen pictures of Anne's husband, but Dave Barry was definitely there and definitely marching with the group, and he has been documenting his experience online. The pictures and captions are really funny, so take a look here!
