She's a big girl now

I had been looking forward to the start of AJ's ballet class for weeks. I thought, "What better way for mom and daughter to bond than to do something together that they both love?" And Audrey really does love to dance, even if it's only spinning around and throwing herself against the furniture.

So yesterday morning, I got her dressed in her new outfit and even took pictures in front of the house, like it was the first day of school or something. We got there on time and got settled in the room. The teacher, who is a sophomore dance major at the university, seemed very nice. And then within the first 30 seconds of class she announced it was closed to parents and kicked out all the adults.

I was really upset, because AJ and I have had terrible separation issues at the gym. It has been really hard on both of us. I lost my mom when I was young so I'm an overly attached mommy and when AJ gets upset I get upset. People, both strangers and family members. have been critical of me for it and I could care less, because a loss like that is going to affect you for life.

But I was pleasantly surprised that AJ watched me leave the room and then kind of forgot about me. She loved the teacher (talked about her at home later) and genuinely enjoyed all the activities they were doing in class. She is a big fan of stability balls and I could see she really wanted to tear into the racks of them but she listened to the teacher very well and was such a good girl.

Anyway, I'm still a little disappointed that it's not something we're doing together but I guess it makes sense. Hopefully in a few weeks I'll feel confident enough to run to Starbucks and that will be a nice treat for me.
After class the little girls hit the soda machines for some caffine.

Too cute!! Is there a window that you can watch through? Once AJ is used to it, C would love to come watch her!

Love the pic! I love that she's in ballet. I took it for many years starting at her age and I loved it so much!
