So apparently APY and I have very valuable opinions. Some of you 'old blog' readers may remember that in April we were a Nielson ratings family and we had to keep a detailed TV-watching diary. Well a few weeks ago APY got a call asking us to keep diaries for Arbitron (radio ratings). They keep sending us random dollar bills in the mail - one when we signed up, five bucks when we got the diary, two dollar bills today reminding us to send it back in. We are supposed to get ten dollars upon completion. As soon as he got the five dollar bill, APY took off for Starbucks.
My former boss's (??) husband worked in local radio, and I always inadvertently insulted her when I said I didn't listen to local radio. I really was not trying to be a snob, but I hate it. The cheesy local ads, the ridiculous banter, the unmemorable music. It's almost as bad as local television.
So now I have full proof that I really do not listen to the radio. Out of the last five days, I was able to mark "Did not hear a radio today" on three of them. On the other two days I had APY's car, which has Sirius Satellite radio. One Saturday I listened to five minutes of the football game and five minutes of Broadway's Best Sirius 77. On Sunday I listened to ten minutes switching back and forth between NPR and Broadway's Best. I think I heard two minutes of Sirius Pure Jazz in there. It's not like I ever drive more than 10-15 minutes in this town and most of the time I'm singing with AJY in the backseat. Mostly songs about farm animals, dogs & cats and the like.
So all I really need to do is watch the mail closely. When the ten bucks arrive I'm running with it, off for a venti frapp.

I wish people would send me money so I could tell them that I listen to our mix CD of kids' songs in the car! :)
