So I'm doing my potty training homework. It is almost as intense as college! I am reading, re-reading, taking notes and organizing a kind of "script." Luckily I have been able to skip over some things since AJ is a little older and has strong verbal skills. Also, I have already used the book to teach her some of the necessary skills - undressing, sitting, relaxing, etc. It's nice to have those out of the way already, since I am a little overwhelmed as it is.
Anyway, my question is: Once your child was potty-trained for the daytime, what did you do about naps and nights? Pull-ups? Diapers? The book says you can go for plain old underpants with 2.5 year olds, but I definitely don't think that's going to work for us right now. The only difference I can really see is price (diapers are cheaper) but I suppose you could also factor in the child's awareness that pull-ups are more like big-kid underwear and they're definitely not 'baby' diapers.
So....any ideas on which way to go?
My MIL literally laughed in my face when I told her I was going to potty-train AJ in one day (and she doesn't do that often). "Toilet Training in Less Than a Day" was published in 1974, so it's not like this is a new-school technique. I'm hoping to prove her wrong!!!

I didn't read a book or anything but WW was pretty much "trained" over the course of 2-3 days. Obviously, she was ready and willing so it went better than expected.
She doesn't take naps anymore *SIGH*, but at nighttime, I have her go the the bathroom right before bed and I put a pull-up on. She has never waken up in the middle of the night to go. Some nights there is nothing in the pull-up and some nights there is a ton. Reason enough for me to believe that she is not ready to go to sleep in just underpants.
Good luck!
I never put a diaper on for naps and we've never once had an accident-believe it or not? But, nightime she always wears a diaper. Wasn't even close to being dry until...I started her in cloth diapers and now she wakes up when she goes overnight and OFTEN wakes up dry...all of the sudden-love it! GOod luck, I totally think you can do it. And don't get discouraged-it's a stressful undertaking!

We have been using pull-ups for naps and bedtime. He usually asks for them when he sleeps- not sure if it makes him feel more comfortable or what. I totally prefer them to diapers only because it's easier to pull them down if we need a last minutes trip to the bathroom before going to bed. I also "reuse" pull-ups if they are empty. So if he doesn't go in his pull-up I will continue to use it for the next nap or bedtime. He gets so excited when he wakes up and can announce, "No pee-pees in the pull-up!"
